FaceShapeFinder exists to answer one question well: “what is my face shape?” — and to make the answer actually useful with styling guidance you can act on.

How the detector works

The tool runs Google’s open-source MediaPipe Face Landmarker model inside your browser. It locates 468 facial landmarks, corrects for head tilt using your eye line, then measures five things: face length, forehead width, cheekbone width, jaw width, and jawline angle. Those proportions are scored against the seven standard face shape profiles used by stylists and opticians — oval, round, square, heart, diamond, oblong, and triangle — and you see how strongly you match each one.

Privacy by architecture

Most photo tools upload your image to a server. We deliberately don’t: the AI model is downloaded to your device and every calculation happens locally. Your photo is never transmitted, stored, or seen by anyone. Close the tab and it’s gone.

What this is (and isn’t)

Face shape classification is styling guidance, not science with hard boundaries — plenty of faces sit between two categories, and that’s normal. Our results are meant for choosing hairstyles, glasses, and beard styles with more confidence. They are not medical, dermatological, or cosmetic-procedure advice.
